The Plant Breeding and Genetics Society of Nepal (PBaGSoN) is excited to announce the upcoming establishment of a series of awards designed to recognize excellence, innovation, and contribution in the field of plant breeding, seed science, agrobiodiversity, genetics, biostatistics and biotechnology. These awards aim to celebrate individuals and groups whose efforts have made a significant impact in plant breeding and other relevant areas, from lifetime achievements to promising emerging talent.
Planned Awards Categories
Recognizing a distinguished career dedicated to advancing the field of plant breeding and other relevant areas, with a lasting impact on agriculture, research, and society.
Honoring individuals or organizations that have contributed significantly to agricultural productivity, crop diversity, (including food, nutrition, health, business and environment security) and sustainability through impactful plant breeding initiatives.
Celebrating outstanding achievements and contributions in research, development, and innovation in plant breeding.
Acknowledging rising talent in plant breeding, awarded to students, early-career researchers, or young practitioners who show great potential and dedication to the field.
For recognizing achievements in seed sector (to individual, institute or group)
For the remarkable contributions of farmers in breeding and innovation (to individual or group)
For recognizing contributions to the conservation
and enhancement of agricultural biodiversity (to farmer, expert or institute)
For acknowledging a very active and dedicated member of an executive committee or other life member, ESR has been started since 2025. It conveys a sense of high achievement and appreciation for their outstanding contributions and commitment.
Award Establishment and Sponsorship Opportunities
We invite members and relevant stakeholders to consider establishing and supporting these awards. Awards can be designed to recognize achievements by members, non-members, students, and farmers, broadening the reach and inclusivity of our recognition programs. Supporters may establish awards in alignment with the Society’s mission, contributing directly to the advancement of plant breeding and other relevant subject in Nepal.
